Small, 18cm, parrot-like bird, entirely green except for red throat. An historically rare bird, last sighted in 1998 on Viti Levu, Fiji, in the western Pacific Ocean. Presumed that tiny numbers remain on other Fijian islands: Taveuni, Vanua Levu and Ovalau. May have been driven into extinction by rats eating their eggs and nestlings. Additionally their home habitat is being destroyed for wood and farming.
